Aira Force 02:03
I have said all that I can do, as words lost meaning, I lost you. Archipelagos are in our course and fail to stop us from wanting more. I hope I’ll find Aira Force. I have said all that I can do, as words lost meaning, I lost you. I hope I’ll find Aira Force. Arboretum and solid stone.

Stars 03:51
We brought outside, the molecules for life and watched them grow. Our home was based off-shore, the weather warned to set it up inside. As time bends light and light skews space. We’ll stay, our breath bated. If heavenly bodies reign down on me, well the stars look like stars to me. You and I both were left outside the world. Balanced on the tip of the ice to come. This wave was just a torrent in disguise. Brought on by your disregard for life. As time bends light and light skews space. We’ll stay, our breath bated. If something above tells me what’s what, now I am sure that I’m alive. If we're all just rocks, in orbit of bombs then we're all just part of an amazing age. The stars look like stars, the stars look like stars to me. Each will explode and envelop every world, the universal dust that we were.
3.
North 03:29
North of the island, a brittle scar. We’ll go together and never return. ‘Cause everything feels different so maybe I’ll stay, there’s pressurised remains beneath this plane. It’s a concept I don’t understand, fifteen hundred galaxies within a grain of sand. Now you tell me just how to be, keep on living and don’t give in. Out through the glow, we’ll see the light show. On a brigantine, bound for Roa, it struck the coast and we saw you laid below. With noon-sight on the meridian, we watched the stars and knew where to go. Although thousands had fled I’d stayed, ships were lined across the sea. Here alone I’m surrounded by the last know brilliance of this land. Freed from underneath, awash in saline. I took the air, and held for hope, that we’d be alright against the tide. On a snow, out into dusk. As we left the world, the world left us. The sweetest sound and luminent sights, portrayed for us and never described. But right then, my heart was spent. As I left the world, the world stayed behind.

Bombshell 03:51
You know I’m a loss, always easy, always easy, and you know it’s hard to be well, you’re a nineteen eighties girl, a classy bombshell. So tell me what you like, I’ll do anything you like. I never noticed, that you wouldn’t waste my time. I hope you remember, that we’re only here for now. Born, from nineteen eighty five, life was cozy, life was cozy. Your quintessence is based on your health, forty units down, twenty years from now. So tell me what you like, I’ll do anything you like. I never noticed, that you wouldn’t waste my time. I hope you remember, that we’re only here for now. We’re only here for a while.

Jack's Rake 05:08
It’s a warm evening as we step beneath the stars. I imagine the rhyolite feels much like your skin. I can see for miles, and back through the years. If clarity was so easy we wouldn’t be here tonight. Stickle Tarn spins a yarn, these paths lead to nowhere. I guess we won’t know the truth until we jump right in. Meet me up on Jack’s Rake. Go back in time in the night. We will watch the static fuzz and hold our heads high. It’s a lost feeling, to seal up your fate. Buried under floorboards, it makes your guests tread light. I brought my hope along tonight, a ship in a bottle. Fifteen words too much or fifteen too late. Meet me up on Jack’s Rake. Go back in time in the night. We will watch the static fuzz and hold our heads high.

Grasvegas (free) 04:49
Though this county was your home, an endless scape of love, left behind for us, to understand you. South easterly winds have beat, you’re dancing with BSP. The Trust have staged a coup for your release so go, just go, and when you understand, let me know. There's islands in islands and no escape, but way up at altitude we'll be learning space. In wastwater we believe, there’s a family underneath. Above the slate we told, the last of the jokes of earth, of sky, we’re everywhere and nowhere to found. Deep in the mountains, we are done, and under the white snow, we’ll be screaming hey! Cordoned to longest nights, aquaplane on a surface of lunar white. The National Trust, have rooted up, we’ll place our bets and watch the sun. Just let it go and follow us this engine learns, the moves we want to know. (Your light, your light, is right, is right, for day, for day, for night, for night. Who doesn’t know the famous Swan).

Our motives were crystal clear, like water vapour in the air. We rose through the atmosphere, out into the open. Blue light shines alone, a beacon of our new home. This planet was terraformed, and all signs of life are gone. I felt that we knew enough, and left everything that we’d touched. There’s few opportunities, that gave us a warning. Deported to life offshore, below a subterranean force. Your civilisations lost and all signs of life are gone. We kept our energy high, and told everybody we'd lied. We left no apology, and climbed to the surface. Blue light shines alone, a beacon of our new home. This planet was terraformed, and all signs of life are gone. Beyond light, they let you go, outbound wave, say we’re here now. Atoned as, the slate collapsed, we’ll stay and say we’re here now.

about

Sootytern's second e.p. “Who does not know famous Swan” (released 28/10/12) encompasses the band’s love for the lake district and our apparent mortality. The title stems from a quote in the William Wordsworth poem “The Waggoner” and eloquently sums up Ewan’s (a.k.a. Swan’s) passion for elegant posture and hissing at strangers. In particular, their track “Grasvegas” directly addresses the band’s fondness for the fast-paced nightlife of Grasmere, its link with Wordsworth and mysteries of Wastwater.
